Seminar 1: Design Excellence Awards 2018/2019 Designer of the Year – Mike Lim
Mike Lim, DP design
With experience ranging from event and exhibition design, business administration to architecture, Mike Lim is now directing the concept design and design development of DP design wide range of projects including commercial complexes, large condominiums, retail shops, restaurants and offices.
Architecturally trained, Mike believes that the commitment to perfection permeates every facet of a designer’s life. Notably, he was the interior designer of The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping mall and prominent projects in Singapore such as Resorts World Sentosa and Paragon Shopping Centre. Recent key completed projects include YOTEL Singapore, Novotel & Mercure Singapore on Stevens, the industrial chic Singapore Dance Theatre and Our Tampines Hub, Singapore’s pioneer model of an integrated sports and lifestyle community hub.
Mike will be presenting his body of works and design philosophy.
Seminar 2: Design Excellence Awards 2018/2019 Project of the Year – Corals
CK Low, 0932 Design Consultants
CK is a co-founder and design director of 0932 Design Consultants, design consultancy based in Singapore. He received a Masters in Architecture in year 2009 and a Bachelor of Arts (Architecture) in year 2008 from the National University of Singapore. Prior to the founding of 0932 Design Consultants, CK has worked with various architectural design firms on a diverse range of architectural residential and hospitality projects located in Asia. He believes there is luxury in simplicity and his works continue to redefine the boundaries of an understated space.
Situated at the southern part of Singapore, Corals is duplex apartment in Daniel Libeskind’s Corals at Keppel Bay. It has a six metre high living and dining space that fronts a panoramic sea view. Soothing colours, subtle details and dexterous spatial manoeuvres make this apartment by the sea an inviting and relaxing holiday home.
The project won Best Residential Design | Apartment ≥ 2,001 sqft and Project of the Year at Design Excellence Awards 2018/2019. CK will talk about the client brief, design concept and the challenges faced.
